WEST WINDSOR, N.J. (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF rowing team finished strong at the Knecht Cup, earning Grand Final wins in both the Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight races at Mercer Lake on Sunday.

The Varsity Eight squad, consisting of Olivia Hecimovich, Kaitlyn Ward, Lauren Aiello, Viktorija Senkute, Ivana Krkljus, Olivia Staples, Zana Krakic, Ginni Dunlop and Erin Corrigan, posted the fastest time in the semifinals to advance to the Grand Final. The Knights sped down the course, finishing almost seven seconds ahead of Tulsa to claim the win.

The Second Varsity Eight boat, consisting of Kristen Taylor, Ashleigh Boyd, Andrea Krebs, Jasmine Blais, Amy Compare, Alison Ponce, Crystal Victor, Danielle Taylor and Abby Justinger, also posted the fastest time in the semifinals. In the Grand Final, UCF crossed the line more than five seconds ahead of Massachusetts to earn the win.

Making their weekend debut, the Novice Four, consisting of Ragan Pape, Leigh Durden, Caylin Levin, Allie Gordon and Brittany Bagwell, used a fourth place finish in their heat to advance to the Third Final. The Knights finished in 8:32.79, over four seconds ahead of Lafayette, to win the event.

After being postponed until Sunday, the Third Varsity Eight, consisting of Kiana Thompson, Dani Burton, Julia Chase, Rachael Klunder, Caitlyn Lytle, Taylor Barnard, Rachel diMonda, Leigh Durden and Samantha Belmore, used a second place finish in their heat to advance to the finals. The Knights crossed the line with a time of 7:15.60 to finish third overall.

UCF's Varsity Four, consisting of Catherine Harms, Lauren Wasko, Annie Thompson, Kayla Thieken and Brianne Addison, used a fourth place finish in the semifinals to advance to the Petite Final. The Knights finished sixth in the finals.

UCF returns to action on April 25, hosting Miami and Old Dominion at Lake Pickett.
