FELLSMERE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF rowing team collected six first place finishes at the 2015 Governor's Cup at Canal 54 on Saturday
The First Varsity Eight boat, consisting of Olivia Hecimovich, Kaitlyn Ward, Lauren Aiello, Viktorija Senkute, Ivana Krkljus, Olivia Staples, Zana Krakic, Ginni Dunlop and Erin Corrigan, opened the day with a first place finish and crossed the line over two seconds ahead of Columbia. The Knights finished in 6:31.8.
The Second Varsity Eight squad, consisting of Kristen Taylor, Ashleigh Boyd, Andrea Krebs, Jasmine Blais, Amy Compare, Alison Ponce, Carly Burleson, Danielle Taylor and Abby Justinger, also finished first in its race, crossing the line eight seconds ahead of Columbia. The Knights finished with a time of 6:45.8. The Third Varsity Eight, consisting of Kiana Thompson, Dani Burton, Annie Thompson, Rachael Klunder, Julia Chase, Andrea Hebditch, Caitlyn Lytle, Alyssa Combs and Rachel diMonda, beat Miami by three seconds, crossing the line first with a time of 7:11.9.
In the later events, the Knights put a pair of boast in the fourth flight of the Varsity Eight race, taking first and second. The Varsity Four boat, consiting of Catherine Harms, Lauren Wasko, Crystal Victor, Kayla Thieken and Brianne Addison, posted a time of 8:02.1 to give the Knights first place over Florida Tech. A pair of Second Varsity Four squads took first and second in the fourth flight.
The Second Varsity Four consisted of Ragan Pape, Leigh Durden, Samantha Belmore, Allie Gordon and Caylin Levin. The Third Varsity Four squad consisted of Guiliana Abbate, Taylor Barnard, Linae Parkinson, Rachael Klunder and Julia Chase.
The Knights return to competition at the Knecht Cup in West Windsor, New Jersey. The two-day event begins April 11.
