KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (UCFKnights.com) - The No. 21 UCF women's golf team took fifth place at the Mercedes-Benz Championship Sunday. Senior Monifa Sealy was key in helping the Knights to their second-straight top five and third-straight top 10 finish.

After taking bogey on the first hole, Sealy was perfect the rest of the day. She carded a final round of 70 (-1), notching two birdies and 15 pars.

Before the final round, Sealy set a goal for herself to finish in the top five overall. She tied for fifth, the best by any Knight so far this season.

"I'm really happy with my round," Sealy said. "I've been playing really well this fall and I am excited for another opportunity this week."

Sealy has been crucial in keeping the knights on track. She leads the team with a 71.5 scoring average and has been the top finisher in each of the last two events.

UCF had contributions from all five players throughout the weekend. Fanny Cnops was strong in the first round, matching Sealy with a 72 (+1). Ashley Holder and Ayaka Nakayama kept the Knights charging with low scores in round two and Laura Sojo carded her best score on day three.

In team play, No. 2 South Carolina took a big lead in the final round and never relinquished it. No. 13 Tennessee moved up four spots to finish runner-up. Kent State finished third and Louisville fourth, with the Knights rounding out the top five in team scoring.

The Knights will travel to Wilmington, N.C. for the Landfall Tradition next weekend, wrapping up the fall portion of the season.
