WALNUT, Calif. - UCF sophomore Anne-Marie Blaney broke the school-record with a time of 34:39.59 in the 10,000 meters on Thursday evening at the Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodge Stadium. A top-season mark was set by sophomore Kalen Hambrick in the hammer throw at 53.97/177-01 at the Brian Clay Invitational.
Blaney, who ran her first 10,000 meter race on Thursday of the season, topper her previous school-record time by 25 seconds that was posted at the 2013 Conference USA Championships. The Ocala, Fla., native, who was named The American Track Athlete of the Week on April 8 after breaking the school record with a first-place finish in the 5000 meters at the Pepsi Florida Relays, finished third in her heat.
The toss by Hambrick was her second-furthest of the season season. The Leeburg, Fla., native achieved her personal-best of 56.36m/184-11 at the UCF Invitational on March 28.
Senior Destinee Romain also competed in the Hammer Throw at the Bryan Clay and tallied a distance of 49.70m/163-01.
The running events for the Knights at the Mt. SAC Relays begin at 1:30 p.m. Eastern with junior Devinn Cartwright and freshman Lia King competing in the 100 hurdles. Freshman Siaina Campbell completes in the Javelin at 4 p.m. to close out the Bryan Clay Invitational for the Knights.
