MEMPHIS, Tenn. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF softball team ended up on the wrong end of a pitcher's duel between sophomore Mackenzie Audas and Memphis' Ellen Roberts. The Knights (23-23, 5-13 Conference USA) came up just short as they lost 1-0 to the Tigers (20-28, 8-10) on Sunday afternoon at Tigers Softball Complex.

There was not much offense in the fast-moving contest. The Knights recorded four hits while the Tigers picked up just three in the one hour and 28 minute game. Audas went the distance and struck out five without issuing a walk. The loss dropped the Plant City native to 11-15 on the season, but lowered her season ERA to 2.66. Roberts defeated the Knights for the third time in the last two seasons.

Freshman Taylor Wagner had the best offense for the Knights after smoking a lead-off double into the gap in left-center in the top of the fourth. Sophomore Farrah Sullivan stepped in next and nearly hit her third home run of the series, but her high fly ball got caught in heavy winds that were blowing straight snagged just at the warning track.

Sophomore Kahley Novak continued her speedy ways on the bases as she swiped her conference-leading 27th base in the third inning.

The Black and Gold have three home games remaining at the UCF Softball Complex, with single game tickets available for purchase online at UCFAthletics.com and Ticketmaster.com, or by calling the UCF Athletics Ticket Office at 407-823-1000.
