ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF softball team plays its first midweek road game of the season as it returns to action against in-state rival Stetson Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at the Patricia Wilson Field in Deland, Fla.
The Knights enter the contest at 9-7 and are coming off a strong 4-1 result at last weekend's NFCA Lead-Off Classic that saw freshman pitcher Shelby Turnier named to the All-Tournament Team. The Hatters (6-5) enter Wednesday's contest equally as hot as they ride a five-game winning streak, including a 4-0 mark in last weekend's Hatter Classic. This will be the first time UCF travels to Deland since the 2009 season.
UCF defeated the Hatters in both meetings last season, 3-1 on March 3 and 8-1 on April 25, both at the UCF Softball Complex. The Knights lead the all-time series against Stetson, 14-6, and has won six of the last seven meetings.
The Black and Gold have 21 home games remaining at the UCF Softball Complex, with season tickets for the 2013 season costing only $30. Single game and season tickets are available for purchase online at UCFAthletics.com and Ticketmaster.com, or by calling the UCF Athletics Ticket Office at (407) UCF-1000.
UCF fans can listen to all the action live on UCF All-Access with Eric Lopez on the call. Fans can also follow all of the action on UCFAthletics.com's Gametracker as well as www.twitter.com/UCF_Softball.
