ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Following its thrilling win over Memphis earlier in the week, UCF will play its 2012 home finale Saturday at 7 p.m. when it hosts UAB at the UCF Soccer Complex. Fans should arrive to the soccer complex early as UCF will honor its seven seniors, who will be playing in their final home game, around 6:50 p.m.
On Wednesday, the Knights (6-5-3, 3-2-0 Conference USA) rallied for an improbable 4-3 double-overtime win over visiting Memphis. UCF overcame a two-goal deficit late in the second half. Deshorn Brown had a hat trick in the second half for the Knights, who took the win in the 100th minute when Omar Vallejo netted the game-winning goal.
The hat trick helped Brown move into a tie for first on the C-USA goals per game list at 0.79. Brown has 11 goals in 14 matches in 2012. Vallejo, who also had a pair of helpers against the Tigers, ranks second in C-USA with six assists on the year.
On Saturday, head coach Bryan Cunningham and the Knights will honor seniors Kyle Cox, Shawn Doyle, Ben Hunt, A.J. Nelson, Andrew Quintana and Malcolm Reed. The group has helped UCF develop into one of the top programs in the country and has participated in a pair of NCAA Championships during their time in Orlando.
UAB is 8-5-2 overall and 3-3-0 in league play. The Blazers will be playing for the first time since Oct. 20, when they recorded a 2-1 home win over Marshall.
Tickets for the game will be available outside the soccer complex Saturday. Parking for the game will be available in Garage F behind the Venue at UCF and in the baseball complex lot. Live statistics and video will be available at UCFAthletics.com Saturday evening.
