ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF Soccer Complex is the place to be this weekend as the No. 9 UCF women's soccer team welcomes No. 3 Florida State and No. 12 Miami to town. The Knights square off with the Seminoles at 7 p.m. Friday before facing the Hurricanes on Sunday at 1 p.m.
This weekend marks the first time in five years that FSU and Miami both appear on UCF's home schedule.
The first 250 UCF students to attend Friday's game will receive football tickets for the Missouri game on Sept. 29. A post-game autograph session will be held and there will be twitter and facebook contests throughout the night.
Head coach Amanda Cromwell hopes to see the UCF faithful come out in droves to show their pride for UCF soccer.
"This is one of the biggest games we'll have on campus all year - we're ninth in the country and FSU is No. 3," Cromwell said. "These are RPI games against very strong ACC teams. We're excited to be home for these games. We want the fans to come out and support us, wear their Black and Gold, buy the season ticket and get their scarf."
Season tickets are available for UCF's 11 home games, beginning at $30. A complimentary soccer scarf comes with each purchase. The Gold Pass, which includes season tickets to all volleyball, men's and women's soccer, women's basketball, softball and track and field contests, is also available now. Friday's match will feature three Hermann Trophy Watch List selections in UCF's Tishia Jewell and Florida State's Tiffany McCarty and Ines Jaurena. The game also holds some roster connections as current Knights assistant coach Joshua S. Walters, Sr. served as Florida State's director of operations for two years before accepting his position at UCF.
The Knights (2-0) head into the game with momentum on their side. They are off to a perfect start for the first time since 2003 after decisive victories at USF and Florida Gulf Coast last weekend, which led to sophomore Jennifer Martin's appointment as the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week.
Florida State (1-0) won the ACC Tournament championship last year and advanced to the College Cup, where they lost to eventual national champion Stanford in the semifinals. The Seminoles return eight starters from that squad.
Miami (1-1), who is ranked in Soccer America's poll and is receiving votes in the NSCAA poll, advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year after recording the first postseason win in program history. The Hurricanes return seven starters from last year's squad, including second-team All-ACC selection Kate Howarth, who led the team in goal scoring (11), assists (7) and points (29).
