ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Four members of the UCF men's golf team were honored Tuesday when Conference USA announced its individual awards. The group was led by Ricardo Gouveia, who was recognized as the C-USA Men's Newcomer of the Year.

Gouveia, a sophomore, and senior Brad Schneider garnered all-conference first team honors, while sophomores Greg Eason and Jose Joia were selected to the second team.

The Knights, who are ranked 21st nationally, are enjoying another stellar campaign. UCF has won three tournaments in 2011-12 and last week finished second at the C-USA Championship. Next week, the Knights are expected to receive an at-large invitation to the NCAA Regionals.

"All year long we have received solid contributions from our whole team," UCF head coach Bryce Wallor said. "It has not just been one player leading us every week. This is a hard-working group and it is each one of our player's goal to be the best each week. That internal motivation has made us a better group as a whole."

Gouveia, who is in his first year in Orlando after transferring from Lynn, has made an immediate impact with the Knights. He has posted five top-10 finishes this season, including taking medalist honors at the Adams Cup of Newport in the fall. He owns a 71.6 stroke average, and placed eighth at the C-USA Championship.

Schneider, who garnered All-C-USA Second Team honors both as a redshirt freshman and a sophomore, also has five top-10 showings on the year. He opened his senior campaign by claiming medalist honors at the Northern Intercollegiate. Schneider has a 71.9 stroke average and has recorded 13 rounds of par or better.

Last week, Eason finished first at the league championship. In 2010-11, he was named the C-USA Freshman of the Year and received all-conference second team honors. Joia also has five top-10 performances this season.
