Final Day Surge Lands Knights in Fourth at Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Heading into Sunday at the Gator Invitational, the No. 21 UCF men's golf team sat four-strokes behind Liberty and No. 17 Florida State, who were tied for fourth. With a 289 (+9) in the final round at the Mark Bostick Golf Course, the Knights posted the third best score of the day and finished in fourth at 871 (+31).

Sophomore Greg Eason (Leicester, England) sparked the final day rally with a 70 (E). Eason's strong play moved him from tied for 27th to a tie for 14th. Sophomore Ricardo Gouveia (Almancil, Portugal) shot a 73 (+3), giving him a 214 (+4) for the tournament, which was good for a three-way tie for sixth. The Knights were one of five teams to have two players finish in the top 20. Senior Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) matched his second round score, with a 72 (+2) and finished tied for 23rd with a 220 (+10).

No. 19 Dominic Bozzelli kept his lead and earned medalist honors, with a 202 (-8). His strong play helped Auburn post an 848 (+8) and win the tournament.

The Knights will return to action Sunday, Feb. 26, when they head to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., to play in the John Hayt Invitational.
