ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Junior Tishia Jewell (Satellite Beach, Fla.) of the UCF women's soccer team garnered another individual accolade Thursday when she was named to the Soccer America MVPs Second Team. Last week, Jewell garnered NSCAA/Continental Tire All-America Third Team honors.

Jewell was one of 22 players nationally to receive Soccer America MVPs First or Second Team recognition.

The forward helped UCF enjoy one of the most memorable campaigns in program history in 2011 as the Knights advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Championship. She led the team with 24 points. Jewell scored seven goals and dished out 10 assists, good for 24th nationally. She recorded 90 shots on the year, with 40 coming on goal, and netted a pair of game-winning goals.

In the NCAA Championship, she had a goal and an assist in the first-round win over FIU and then added an assist in UCF's second-round victory at Florida. When the Knights got past North Carolina to advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1987, Jewell made one of UCF's five penalty kicks during the shootout.

In addition to receiving NSCAA All-America honors, Jewell garnered NSCAA All-Central Region First Team recognition and was selected to the All-Conference USA First Team. She has also been recognized for her work in the classroom with spots on the CoSIDA Academic All-District IV First Team and the C-USA All-Academic Team.
