ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Having advanced past the opening round of the NCAA Championship for the fifth-straight year, the UCF women's soccer team will face a tough test Friday when the Knights meet host Florida at Pressley Stadium in Gainesville. The second-round match will begin at 7 p.m.

Last Friday, the Knights (12-4-5) rolled to a 2-0 victory over visiting FIU in the first round of the tournament. Junior Tishia Jewell (Satellite Beach, Fla.) and redshirt freshman Emily Grider (Fort Worth, Texas) both scored for UCF in the win.

A No. 2 region seed, Florida (17-7-0) defeated Florida Gulf Coast, 3-0, on Saturday at home to open the NCAA Championship. Seven of Florida's wins this season have come at home. The team is led by Erika Tymrak, who has 12 goals and seven assists.

UCF and the Gators will be meeting in the NCAA Championship for the fifth time. The team's last met in the postseason in 2008, and Florida handed the Knights a 2-0 second-round loss.

The Knights did not play the Gators this season, but the squads met in 2010 in Orlando and Florida posted a 2-0 victory in front of a UCF-record 2,141 fans.

UCF is looking to advance past the second round of the NCAA Championship for the first time since 1987 when the program advanced to the national semifinals.

If the Knights get past the Gators, they would face either No. 3 region seed North Carolina or Baylor Sunday in Gainesville.
