ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After an extended layoff, the No. 6 UCF men's soccer team will return to action Tuesday in Miami at FIU. The Conference USA contest at FIU Soccer Stadium will begin at 7 p.m.
UCF (8-1-1, 2-0-0 C-USA) has not played since Oct. 1 when the squad handled No. 21 SMU, 4-2, in Dallas. The Knights were scheduled to host league foe South Carolina this past Saturday, but the match was postponed due to heavy rain.
UCF is one of two teams in C-USA without a loss or a tie. Head coach Bryan Cunningham's team is 4-0-1 on the road in 2011.
UCF sophomore McKauly Tulloch (Kingston, Jamaica) has 12 goals in eight outings and is one of the top scorers in the nation. He recorded a pair of tallies in the win at SMU. Senior Kevan George (Roxborough, Trinidad) has six assists on the year. UCF leads C-USA in goals per game at 2.50.
The Knights have totaled 25 goals this season, compared to only 10 for their opponents. Junior Shawn Doyle (Fort Myers, Fla.) has registered three shutouts.
FIU is 4-5-2 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play. On Saturday, the Panthers fell 3-0 at Memphis.
The contest at FIU will serve as a homecoming for UCF junior Andrew Quintana (Miami, Fla.). The starting defender is a Miami native. Quintana has started every match for the Knights and ranks second on the squad in minutes.
The match at FIU is the first of two on the road this week for UCF. The Knights will play at UAB on Saturday.
