ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Coming off a thrilling come-from-behind road victory Sept. 25 against Tulsa, the No. 25 UCF women's soccer team will return home and continue action on Friday, hosting UTEP at 7 p.m. and Sunday, hosting Colorado College at noon at the UCF Soccer Complex.
The Knights are halfway home in the 2011 campaign and have already compiled a strong 6-2-2 overall record. UCF will continue its Conference USA schedule against UTEP and Colorado College where the Knights have gone 1-1-0 thus far in conference play.
UTEP is 8-2-1 on the season with a 2-0-0 record in C-USA and is currently riding a six-game unbeaten streak. The Miners extended their streak Sept. 25 with a 3-2 lightning-delayed victory against C-USA opponent East Carolina. UTEP is currently second in the conference in goals per game at 2.18 a contest and should provide the Knights a difficult challenge with its high powered offense.
Colorado College is 4-4-2 overall and is also 2-0-0 in conference play after besting Marshall 1-0 Sept. 25. The Tigers overwhelmed Marshall with a 24-3 advantage in total shots and have played 292:26 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal. Their last goal allowed came Sept. 16 against Fresno State. Colorado College will also provide the Knights' defense a unique challenge as it overwhelmingly leads C-USA in corner-kick attempts with 8.70 per game.
UCF enters the weekend having outscored its opponents 18-10 and out-shot its opponents 128-94 on the season. The Knights' offense is led by junior forward Tishia Jewell who leads C-USA in assists and assists per game. Fellow junior forward Nicolette Radovcic has also eclipsed the double-digit point plateau this season.
Tickets to the contest will be available on Wednesday outside the soccer complex. The Gold Pass, which offers season tickets to all men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, softball and track & field events, is still available by calling (407) UCF-1000 or by visiting UCFAthletics.com.
