ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Andrea Rodrigues, a junior on the UCF women's soccer team, had an impressive performance last week to help Portugal to an 8-0 win over host Armenia in qualifying play for the UEFA Women's EURO 2013. Rodrigues totaled two goals and two assists as Portugal set a national team scoring record in the victory.
Rodrigues assisted on Carolina Mendes' goal two minutes into the match and then added her own scores at the seven and 59-minute marks. She also assisted on her team's sixth goal, a goal from Kimberly Brandao, 63 minutes in.
Rodrigues played all 90 minutes in the winning effort. Portugal will return to action on Oct. 22 against the Czech Republic.
This season, Rodrigues has played in five matches for UCF. She scored a goal in the Knights' 4-4 tie at No. 22 San Diego State on Sept. 2. In 2010, Rodrigues appeared in 16 matches for the Knights. She completed the campaign with a goal and two assists in 448 minutes of work.
Rodrigues attended St. Petersburg High School, and owns passports for Portugal, Brazil and the United States. She originally joined Portugal's national team last summer.
