ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The No. 8 UCF men's soccer team will take its perfect 5-0 record to start the season to Washington, D.C., this weekend for a pair of matches, beginning with a contest at George Mason Friday evening. The Knights will conclude the road trip Sunday at American.

The No. 8 ranking is the highest in program history for the Knights. UCF is also ranked 10th in the NSCAA poll. The team's 5-0 record matches the best start to a season in program history at the Division I level.

UCF will meet George Mason at 8 p.m. Friday at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Va. The Patriots are 2-1-1 this year. In its last outing, George Mason tied Holy Cross, 2-2, Sunday in Providence, R.I.

The match against American is set for 4 p.m. at Reeves Field in the nation's capital. The Eagles, who are 1-4-1, host Cal-State Fullerton Friday evening.

UCF has enjoyed success away from Orlando this year as the squad is 2-0 on the road. On Sunday, the Knights crushed host Mercer, 5-2, in Macon, Ga.

In five contests this year, the Knights have totaled 15 goals, compared to only four for their opponents. UCF leads Conference USA and is sixth nationally in goals per game (3.00), and is second in the conference in goals against average at 0.80.

Sophomore McKauly Tulloch (Kingston, Jamaica) is second in the country with 18 points (eight goals, two assists) this season. Junior Nik Robson (Auckland, New Zealand) recorded five points last week and has seven on the season.

In the net, junior Shawn Doyle (Fort Myers, Fla.) has excelled for the Knights. He was named the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week Monday after posting a shutout and a 0.56 goals against average in two contests.

After this weekend's matches, UCF will return home and host Florida Gulf Coast on Sept. 23.
