ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After claiming co-medalist honors and leading UCF to the team title at the Northern Intercollegiate in Illinois earlier in the week, UCF senior Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) was selected as the Conference USA Men's Golfer of the Week Wednesday. Schneider picked up his first collegiate victory at the 16-team event Sunday.
He finished the tournament at 1-under 212, tying with Ball State's Tyler Merkel for first individually. Schneider, who has been a member of three C-USA Championship title squads during his time as a Knight, opened the tournament with a 2-under 69 before carding a 70 (-1) in the second round.
The Northern Intercollegiate included six teams that finished last season ranked in the top-60 nationally according to GolfStat. The event was the first of four this fall for the Knights.
Schneider shared the C-USA weekly honor with UAB's Jason Shufflebotham.
Schneider and the Knights will return to action Monday when they defend their team title at the Adams Cup of Newport in Rhode Island.
