ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After helping 12th-ranked UCF record two victories, junior goalkeeper Shawn Doyle (Fort Myers, Fla.) was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week Monday. Doyle posted a shutout and recorded a 0.56 goals against average during the week for the Knights, who are 5-0 in 2011.
He logged 161 minutes in UCF's two victories and allowed just one goal while making four saves. He played all 90 minutes in a 3-0 win over North Florida and stopped three shots. The junior had a save and allowed just one goal in 71:33 minutes of action in his team's 5-2 win at Mercer.
On the year, Doyle has 15 saves and only three goals allowed.
The C-USA Defensive Player of the Week award is the second in Doyle's career and first of the season.
The Knights will return to action Friday at George Mason. The contest is one of two this upcoming weekend in Washington, D.C., for UCF. The team will play at American Sunday.
