ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Playing for the Tampa Bay Hellenic, UCF junior Andrea Rodrigues (St. Petersburg, Fla.) was selected to the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) All-Sunshine Conference Team. Tampa Bay won the league with a 10-2-1 record but fell to Chicago, 2-1, in the WPSL National Semifinals.
Rodrigues played for Sunshine Coach of the Year George Fotopoulos as the team had a +23 goal differential in league matches.
The WPSL is a 60-plus team national league for the 2011 summer season competing in five conferences and is the largest women's soccer league in the world.
A graduate of St. Petersburg High School, Rodrigues made an impact right away as a freshman in 2008, totaling four points including an assist in the NCAA Tournament vs. Miami. After earning a medical redshirt in 2009, she had a goal and two assists during UCF's run towards the Conference USA title in 2010.
Rodrigues and the Knights will host Texas A&M in an exhibition match Saturday at 7 p.m. before opening the regular season Aug. 19 against South Florida at 7 p.m.
