OCALA, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's golf team opened play at the NCAA Regionals at the Golden Ocala Golf and Country Club Thursday. After 18 holes, the Knights are 13th overall at 298 (+10).

Fifth-ranked Florida leads the 14-team field at 6-under 282, followed by No. 17 Arkansas (283, -5) and Baylor (284, -4). The three-round tournament, which will conclude Saturday, includes five of the top-30 ranked teams in the country.

Head coach Bryce Wallor's Knights earned a spot in the regionals by claiming their third-straight Conference USA Championship title last month. UCF is playing in the regionals for the fifth-consecutive year.

During the first round, UCF was led by freshman Greg Eason (Leceister City, England) and junior Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.), who are both tied for 11th at 1-under 71.

Junior Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) enters the second round tied for 43rd after posting a 74 (+2). Playing in his first postseason event, freshman Kyle Wilshire (Georgetown, Ky.) is tied for 69th (82, +10). Senior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) was unable to complete the opening round due to injury. Jack Dukeminier of Oregon is first individually at 66 (-6).

The tournament is serving as the sixth of the season for the Knights in Florida. UCF played at the Golden Ocala Golf Club a year ago, finishing fourth at the Golden Ocala Invitational.
