MADISON, Miss. (UCFAthletics.com) - Behind three top-20 individual performances, the UCF men's golf team concluded play Tuesday at the BancorpSouth Intercollegiate at the Reunion Golf and Country Club by placing fourth at the 15-squad tournament. The event was originally scheduled for three rounds, but was shortened to 36 holes due to inclement weather Monday.
UCF finished the tournament at 581 (+5). South Alabama won the title at 571 (-5), followed by Southern Miss (577, +1) and Southeastern Louisiana (580, +4).
Freshman Greg Eason (Leicester City, England), senior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) and junior Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) all recorded top-20 showings for the Knights. Eason tied for ninth at 1-under 143. Henriques carded a 72 (E) in the second round to tie for 12th (144, E). Arendell tied for 17th (146, +2).
After posting a 1-over 73 Tuesday, junior Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) tied for 46th with a 150 (+6). Sophomore Reid Martin (Mukilteo, Wash.) tied for 50th at 151 (+7).
The Knights finished one shot ahead of host Ole Miss. The Rebels placed fifth at 582 (+6).
The event was the fifth of the spring for UCF, and the Knights have posted top-five team finishes in four of the tournaments.
Philipp Westermann of Southeastern Louisiana took medalist honors at 143 (-1).
The tournament was UCF's last regular-season event of the year. The Knights will open play at the Conference USA Championship on April 24 in Texarkana, Ark. UCF has won two-straight C-USA titles.
