ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's soccer team wrapped up the 2011 spring season with a 2-1 win Saturday night over the US U-17 Men's National team at the UCF Soccer Complex. The Knights will now direct their attention to working with the strength and conditioning coaches in preparation for the fall regular season.
"The team will now start working on getting stronger with the offseason strength and condition program put in place," head coach Bryan Cunningham said. "They will also focus on their academics as we approach the end of the semester and finals."
Saturday saw UCF score twice to defeat a team that recently won the Concacaf U-17 Championship with a 3-0 overtime win over Canada in late February. Cameron Cooksey (Marietta, Ga.) and Luiz Yamashita (Sao Paulo, Brazil) each netted their first tallies of the spring season to help the Knights finish strong.
UCF will look to build on its best season in program history when it begins the 2011 regular season in late August.
