DADE CITY, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - A strong second round Saturday at the USF Invitational at the Lake Jovita Country Club allowed the UCF men's golf team to move to sixth at the 21-team event. Entering Sunday's final round, UCF has a team score of 579 (+3).
The Knights carded a 2-under 286 Saturday to post the second-lowest score during the second round.
Middle Tennessee State is first at 551 (-25), followed by North Texas (571, -5) and Villanova (573, -3). Florida State and Arkansas State are tied for fourth at 574 (-2).
UCF freshman Greg Eason (Leicester City, England) enters the final round tied for fifth at 139 (-5). Junior Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) made a huge jump Saturday. He entered the day tied for 35th, but carded a 4-under 68 during the second round. Schneider is now tied for 12th at 2-under 142.
Sophomore Reid Martin (Mukilteo, Wash.) is tied for 31st at 146 (+2), and senior Nuno Henriques is tied for 72nd (153, +9).
Because of an illness, junior Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) was unable to play Saturday.
