ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's golf team will open play at one of the nation's premier events Sunday when action begins at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach. The three-day tournament will conclude Tuesday.

The No. 29 Knights will compete against eight of the country's top-60 squads at the event. In total, 15 teams will be in action. Other squads include No. 2 Florida, No. 7 LSU, No. 13 Auburn, No. 20 Arkansas, No. 38 TCU and the tournament host, No. 43 North Florida.

The tournament will serve as UCF's second event of the spring. In mid-February, UCF placed fifth at the 14-team SunTrust Gator Invitational in Gainesville. Freshman Greg Eason (Leicester City, England) led the Knights, finishing ninth at 3-over 213.

Eason will be one of five Knights in action in Ponte Vedra Beach. He will be joined in the lineup by senior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal), juniors Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) and Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) and sophomore Reid Martin (Mukilteo, Wash.).

Last season, UCF finished 11th at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational. Henriques was the team's top finisher, tying for 15th at 223 (+7).

Live statistics for the tournament will be available at GolfStat.com each day. UCF will open the first round at 8 a.m. Sunday.
