TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's tennis team completed day two of the Florida State Quad Tournament Sunday. The Knights battled No. 30 Iowa on the singles courts and secured five victories in eight matches against the Hawkeyes.
UCF rebounded after taking on No. 60 Alabama in doubles where the Crimson Tide posted four wins. Following the break, the Knights met up with Iowa in singles and claimed four matches in straight sets, including triumphs by Jenna Doerfler, Courtney Griffith, Josephine Haraldson and Andrea Yacaman. It was Haraldson's second singles win in as many days.
Completing the successful afternoon for the Knights, Genevieve Lorbergs split the first two sets against Lynne Poggensee-Wei only to be victorious in the third for a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 victory.
The Black and Gold will conclude its trip to Tallahassee Monday with another round of doubles and singles play. It will return home for an exhibition match vs. the U.S. Junior National Team Thursday at 2 p.m. while UCF opens the dual-match season Saturday vs. Florida A&M at noon at the UCF Tennis Complex.
