ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF softball team put together an impressive offensive showing to help itself to a 14-8 victory over Rollins Saturday morning in a nine-inning contest at the UCF Softball Complex.

Junior Vanessa Perez (San Diego, Calif.) led the Knights at the plate with three hits, which included a double, a triple and three RBI, and senior Tawny Swan (Gilbert, Ariz.) added three RBI of her own while going a perfect 3-for-3 with a double.

UCF's lone freshman, Haley Douglas (Pleasanton, Calif.), tallied two hits and a double offensively, while also posting four strikeouts in three innings of work in the circle. The pitcher gave up six hits and walked four for the home team.

Senior Diana Rojas (Miami, Fla.) closed out the contest for the Black and Gold on the mound, allowing only three hits and a walk to the Tars, while also posting a strikeout.

The Knights won all six games they played this fall, recording wins against Rollins, Daytona State College, Hillsborough Community College, Florida State College at Jacksonville and a pair of victories vs. Seminole Community College. UCF has batted in 52 runs and given up only 17 in those contests.

Last season, the Knights made it to the 2010 NCAA Tournament for the third time in school history after posting a 36-23 overall record, including a 16-7 Conference USA record. The Knights also appeared in the C-USA Championship title game in Houston vs. East Carolina.

The Knights return four players who garnered All-C-USA honors last season. Tiffany Lane (Moreno Valley, Calif.) and Natalie Land (Mayo, Fla.) were named to the All-C-USA First Team, and Abby McClain (Waterloo, Iowa) was named to the All-C-USA Second Team. Marissa Menendez (Tampa, Fla.) was selected to the all-freshman team.

The Knights will begin the 2011 spring season at the UCLA Tournament in Los Angeles, Calif. from Feb. 11-13. The Black and Gold will face UCLA, North Dakota State, San Diego State and Utah State.
