ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Off to a strong start to the 2010-11 season, the UCF men's golf team will return to action starting Sunday when play begins at the Prestige at PGA WEST in La Quinta, Calif. One of the premier events in the country, the three-day tournament will be played at the TPC Stadium Course at PGA WEST.
The 25th-ranked Knights are one of five top-25 squads participating in the tournament, along with No. 7 Washington, No. 12 Pepperdine, No. 20 Stanford and No. 22 California. UC-Davis and Stanford co-host the tournament.
UCF will utilize the same lineup that it used in its last event when it took the title at the Adam's Cup of Newport on Sept. 21 in Rhode Island. In only his second collegiate event, freshman Greg Eason (Leicester City, England) claimed medalist honors in the Ocean State. Both senior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) and sophomore Reid Martin (Mukilteo, Wash.) tied for fourth at the event. Juniors Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) and Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) are also off to great starts this fall and will play in California.
The Knights competed at PGA WEST a year ago and placed 10th. Henriques was the squad's top finisher, tying for 14th. Both Arendell and Schneider were also in action at the tournament.
