Knights Began Play at Tough Isleworth Event

WINDERMERE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Play began Sunday at the nation's premier college tournament, and the UCF men's golf team is 13th after 18 holes at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational. The 15-team event at the Isleworth Golf and Country Club features 10 of the top-30 squads in the country.

The Knights posted a 307 (+19) during Sunday's first round. TCU and No. 18 Stanford are tied for first at 2-over 290. Fifth-ranked Alabama (291, +3) is third, followed by 12th-ranked LSU (293, +5).

Freshman Greg Eason (Leicester City, England) had the best performance among the five UCF golfers in action at the event Sunday. He posted a 72 (E) and is tied for 13th. Senior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) is tied for 32nd after recorded a 4-over 76.

The Knights are two shots behind No. 1 Florida as the Gators are 12th at 305 (+17). Texas, ranked fifth nationally, is tied for 14th with Tennessee at 309 (+21).

Arizona's Tarquin McManus leads the field after 18 holes. He posted a 3-under 69 Sunday.

The Knights will tee off Monday starting at 8:50 a.m.

The event will conclude Tuesday. The tournament is not open to the public, but live statistics are available on Golfstat.com. Texas Tech is hosting the event.
