LA QUINTA, Calif. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's golf team closed the Prestige at PGA WEST on a strong note Wednesday as the Knights finished seventh at the 15-squad tournament. Thanks to solid performances from two veterans, UCF closed the three-day event at 885 (+21).
The tournament featured five top-25 teams, including tournament champion Cal. The 22nd-ranked Bears finished at 864 (E), and were followed by No. 7 Washington and No. 21 Stanford, who tied for second at 3-over 867.
UCF junior Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) was the Knights' top finisher. He placed 10th at 215 (-1) after posting a 72 (E) on the final 18. He was followed by senior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) who tied for 11th (216, E).
The Knights posted a 4-over 292 during Tuesday's final round. UCF finished six shots in front of No. 12 Pepperdine. The Waves tied for eighth with UNC-Wilmington.
UCF junior Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) tied for 32nd at 224 (+8). Sophomore Reid Martin (Mukilteo, Wash.) tied for 59th at 230 (+14) and freshman Greg Eason (Leicester City, England) tied for 74th (235, +19).
UCF's next event, the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in nearby Windermere, will serve as the Knights' final tournament of the fall. The tournament begins on Oct. 24.
