ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After concluding a five-game road swing, the UCF men's soccer team returns home to face Conference USA opponent SMU on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.
The Knights completed their three-weekend slate of road games with a 3-2 record. The trip ended on a high note after defeating C-USA opponent Marshall, 2-1, in overtime. UCF also defeated Long Island and Army during the stretch, while suffering one-goal losses at UMass and UNC-Wilmington.
Sophomore Nik Robson is again showing his attacking ability early in the season, netting six goals and dishing out four assists in only seven games. Sophomore Shawn Doyle is also playing solid in goal, recording 18 saves and three shutouts on the season.
SMU is ranked fifth in the nation according to this week's NSCAA poll after posting a 9-0 mark to start the season. The Mustangs are 1-0 in C-USA play after defeating UAB in the team's most recent contest. The team is led in points by freshman Juan Castillo, who has recorded seven goals and two assists in nine games.
The Knights are 0-3-2 all-time against SMU, after the teams' most recent meeting in 2009 ended in a 3-3 draw.
The first 50 fans to Saturday's game will receive a free UCF Soccer t-shirt. Admission to the UCF Soccer Complex Saturday is free.
