ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - When the UCF men's golf team opens the 2010-11 campaign this Saturday at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Zionsville, Ind., the Knights will have a young squad on the course. UCF concluded qualifying for the tournament Wednesday, and three freshmen made the team's lineup.
Freshmen Greg Eason (Leicestershire, England), Hojin Kang (Lake Mary, Fla.) and Kyle Wilshire (Georgetown, Ky.) all qualified after four rounds of play in Orlando. The trio will make their collegiate debuts this weekend. The group will be joined by juniors Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) and Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.).
Arendell received a tournament exemption from head coach Bryce Wallor. He was rewarded for a strong summer competing in amateur tournaments across the country. In late August, he advanced to the round of 32 at the U.S. Amateur Championship in University Place, Wash.
Schneider finished second during qualifying. In 2009-10, both Arendell and Schneider participated in all 12 of UCF's tournaments.
