UCF Game Notes

When UCF (1-1) has the ball:
Last Saturday against NC State, the Knights were led in passing and rushing by freshman Jeff Godfrey. The Knights' young quarterback gained 53 yards on the ground and passed for 107 yards in only a quarter and a half of play. Tailback Jonathan Davis got the bulk of the carries, accumulating 32 yards on 16 attempts. On the season, Davis has 36 carries for 139 yards. Brian Watters caught six passes for 88 yards and Kamar Aiken had five receptions for 50 yards against the Wolfpack last week. A.J. Guyton leads the Knights in receiving this season with nine catches for 133 yards. The Bulls are led by defensive back Domonic Cook who recorded an interception, had a pass break-up and recovered a fumble against Baylor last week.

When UB (1-1) has the ball:
The Bulls' rushing attack was the lone bright spot of last week's loss at Baylor. Collectively the ground game produced 162 yards, 71 coming from tailback Branden Oliver. Quarterback Jerry Davis carried the ball 12 times but only managed 22 yards. Davis completed 18-of- 46 passes for 163 yards and one interception. Terrel Jackson and Marcus Rivers both tallied six catches, totaling more than half of the team's number of receptions. Placekicker A.J. Principe proved to be reliable, converting two out of three field goal attempts for the only scores Buffalo accounted for in the loss. UCF's Bruce Miller had five solo tackles and recorded his first sack this season in last week's game against the Wolfpack, and now has 28 for his career. Lawrence Young led the Knights with six total tackles, four solo.

Did you know?
Jeff Godfrey is the 17th true freshman quarterback in UCF history to go under center. Including redshirt freshmen, Godfrey is the 26th freshman overall to take a snap with the Knights. Since joining the FBS in 1996, Godfrey is just the fourth true freshman QB at UCF to play at least one game (Steven Moffett in 2003, Kyle Israel in 2004 and Rob Calabrese in 2008).
