ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's golf team learned its NCAA Regional destination Monday evening when the Knights found out that they will be heading to San Diego, Calif., for the postseason. UCF received the No. 8 seed at the San Diego Regional, which will be held at the Carlton Oaks Golf Club May 20-22.

The Knights earned a spot in the regionals by claiming their second-consecutive Conference USA Championship last month.

UCF will be one of 13 squads competing in San Diego. Six total 54-hole regional tournaments will be held across the country, with the low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional advancing to the finals. The championship will be conducted June 1-6 in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Oregon, the ninth-ranked team in the country, received the top seed in San Diego. Other squads selected to compete in California were No. 5 Augusta State, No. 16 UNLV and No. 28 Tennessee. No. 23 San Diego State is hosting the event. UCF is ranked 47th in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.

On April 27, UCF earned C-USA's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals by finishing the 11-team conference championship tournament at 6-under 858, 18 shots ahead of Rice and Southern Miss, who tied for second place. Three Knights - junior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) and sophomores Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) and Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) - tied for second individually as four of the five UCF golfers posted top-10 finishes.

UCF will be playing in the NCAA Regionals for the fourth-straight year. The trip to the regionals will serve as the 13th postseason appearance in UCF history.
