UCF Ties for Seventh at Bancorp South

MADISON, Miss. (UCFAthletics.com) - Two Knights recorded top-20 finishes at the UCF men's golf team tied for seventh at the Bancorp South Intercollegiate, which concluded Tuesday at the Reunion Golf and Country Club. UCF finished the three-round, two-day tournament at 12-over 876.

The Knights tied with South Alabama and finished two shots behind Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss, who tied for fifth at 874 (+10).

Sophomore Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) tied for 12th at 216 (E). He posted a 1-over 73 during Tuesday's final round. Also posting a top-20 finish for UCF was sophomore Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.). Arendell registered a 2-under 70 on the final 18 to tie for 17th (217, +1).

UCF was consistent, carding 4-over 292s during all three rounds at the tournament. No. 22 North Florida won the team title, finishing at 18-under 846, just one stroke ahead of 18th-ranked Florida (847, -17).

The tournament included six of the top-50 teams in the country.

Freshman Reid Martin (Mukilteo, Wash.) tied for 28th at 4-over 220. Senior Simon Ward (County Monaghan, Ireland) tied for 43rd (223, +7) and junior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) tied for 58th (227, +11).

Tyson Alexander of Florida took medalist honors, finishing at 11-under 205. The event was the last tournament for the Knights before the squad hosts the Conference USA Championship in late April at the RedTail Golf Club in nearby Sorrento.
