UCF Track & Field Closes Out Florida Relays

April 3, 2010

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF track and field squad concluded the Florida Relays Saturday afternoon at the James F. Pressly Stadium in Gainesville. The day consisted of mostly relay events for the Knights, who had a full day of track and field competition Friday.

All three of the Knights' relay squads on Saturday were just off school-record pace. The sprint medley team of Sheila Paul, Champelle Brown, Aisha-Maree Frazier and Carley Dart finished in second place with a time of 3:53.68, just a half-second off the school record.

The 4x200-meter relay team was a mere .13 from the school record, finishing in 1:36.47 despite competing without Paul, the school's 200-meter record holder in the event. Brown joined fellow Micaela Wimberly, sophomore Jackie Coward and freshman Sonnisha Williams.

The 4x100-meter team also had a strong showing Saturday, finishing the race in 45.80. Wimberly and Paul were joined by junior Tomika Story and Tiki James.

Story competed in the triple jump, finishing 14th with a top mark of 12.01 meters. The only individual participant for the Knights was senior LaKendra Thames, who had a top throw of 14.81 meters in the shot put.
