Men's Golf Wraps Up John Hayt Invitational

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Play concluded at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational Tuesday at the Sawgrass Country Club, and the UCF men's golf team finished 11th at the three-day event which featured some of the top squads in the country. Junior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) was the Knights' top finisher, ending the tournament tied for 15th.

UCF posted a 309 (+21) during Tuesday's final round to conclude play at 905 (+41). The event featured eight of the top-35 ranked teams in the nation. No. 27 North Florida, the host, won the team title at 12-over 876. No. 33 LSU (888, +24) finished second, followed by No. 30 Duke (889, +25).

Henriques ended the event at 223 (+7). Freshman Reid Martin (Mukilteo, Wash.) also posted a top-30 finish. He tied for 27th at 10-over 226. North Florida's Joe Byun earned medalist honors at 4-under 212.

UCF sophomore Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) carded a 3-over 75 on the final 18 to tie for 38th (228, +12). Sophomore Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) tied for 42nd, and senior Simon Ward (County Monaghan, Ireland) tied for 61st for the Knights.

The Knights finished three strokes behind 10th-place Georgia Southern.

UCF will return to action on March 15, when the Knights host the two-day Rio Pinar Invitational in Orlando.
