ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's golf team will welcome 17 other squads to the Rio Pinar Country Club Monday and Tuesday for the annual Rio Pinar Invitational. The teams will play two rounds Monday, and then conclude the tournament with 18 holes Tuesday.
The large tournament field includes seven of the top-75 teams in the country, including No. 27 North Florida, No. 32 Middle Tennessee State, No. 57 Texas-Arlington and No. 63 UCF. Other participants include Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, Toledo and USF.
Play will begin on Monday with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.
All six members of the UCF squad will be in action at the event. The Knights' lineup consists of senior Simon Ward (County Monaghan, Ireland), junior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal), sophomores Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) and Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) and freshman Reid Martin (Mukilteo, Wash.). Senior Devin Spies (Sarasota, Fla.) will compete as an individual.
UCF has claimed two-straight Rio Pinar Invitational titles. Ward tied for 11th at the tournament a year ago, and Schneider tied for 18th.
The Knights will be competing for the first time since March 2.
