Men's Golf Moves to Fourth at John Hayt Invitational

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Thanks to impressive rounds from junior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) and freshman Reid Martin (Mukilteo, Wash.), the UCF men's golf team is tied for fourth after 36 holes at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at the Sawgrass Country Club. The Knights entered the day tied for seventh, and are now ahead of several nationally-ranked squads.

Play at the three-day tournament will conclude Tuesday.

UCF carded a 4-over 292 in the second round, and is tied with Tulsa and Georgia Southern at 596 (+20). No. 27 North Florida, the tournament host, is first at 6-over 582, followed by No. 30 Duke (585, +8). The Knights are three shots behind third-place Furman (593, +17).

The event includes eight of the top-35 teams in the country. UCF currently sits ahead of several of those squads, including No. 4 Florida, No. 22 TCU and No. 25 Tennessee.

On Monday, Henriques carded a 1-under 71 to move to a tie for 10th individually at 146 (+2). Martin posted a 72. The rookie is tied for 17th at 148 (+4).

Sophomore Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) is tied for 28th at 150 (+6). He registered a 2-over 74 in the second round. Fellow sophomore Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) is tied for 40th, and senior Simon Ward (County Monaghan, Ireland) is tied for 47th.

North Florida's Joe Byun posted his second-straight 3-under 69 and leads the field at 138 (-6).
