ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Coming off an eighth-place finish at the SunTrust Gator Invitational two weeks ago, the UCF men's golf team is set to participate in the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational this weekend. This three-day event begins play Sunday.
No. 29 North Florida will host the event at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Verda Beach, the tournament will feature several top-ranked teams including Florida (3), Alabama (12), Tennessee (24) and Duke (33). The Knights will also compete against Conference USA rivals Tulsa and UAB.
Teeing off for the Knights are senior Simon Ward (County Mongahan, Ireland), junior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) and sophomores Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.), Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) and freshman Reid Matin (Mukilteo, Wash.).
Henriques participated in the Gator Invitational where he tied for seventh individually, and is currently ranked within the top-105 collegiate golfers in the country.
The Knights competed in the John Hayt Invitational in 2008, tying for 13th in the tournament which featured 10 squads that were ranked in the top-30 nationally.
