ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - After week-long tryouts and an evaluating process in January, current UCF players Eduardo Jiminez and Chris Feigenbaum were selected to the Puerto Rico U-21 National Team Pool. The two Knights will be presented with the opportunity to compete in the Central American and Caribbean Games in July 2010, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

The international tournament is considered the most important competition in the region for the U-21 national teams, and Puerto Rico will welcome numerous countries to Mayaguez, including Mexico, Honduras, Columbia, Costa Rica, Venezuela and Cuba.

Feigenbaum, a sophomore from Fayetteville, Ga., played in 10 games for the Knights in 2009, making one start. Feigenbaum scored in a 3-1 victory over North Florida on Sept. 4. As a freshman in 2008, Feigenbaum started 14 contests and appeared in all 19 games, scoring one goal.

When asked about the opportunity to play for his country, Feigenbaum stated, "I am looking forward to representing some of the most passionate people in the world while playing against quality competition."

Jimenez, a freshman from Miami, Fla., started five times for UCF in 2009 and appeared in 14 games overall. The midfielder tallied an assist and his first career point in a victory over Manhattan on Sept. 20, 2009.

Jiminez is just as thrilled at the chance to play for Puerto Rico, commenting, "I'm very excited to have the opportunity to represent my country. This is what every athlete works for and I feel blessed to be part of something so special."

Head coach Bryan Cunningham, who recently secured a solid recruiting class, is glad that two of his players are being presented with this great opportunity.

"Both these players have done a tremendous job for us here at UCF. I am excited that they are excelling on the international level as well. Our staff and team wish them the best of luck this summer."

UCF is in the midst of its spring season, recently playing to a 1-1 tie against Toronto FC of the MLS. The Knights will return to action this Friday, Feb. 19, playing against FC Dallas of the MLS at 7 p.m. at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.
