UCF Concludes First Event of Spring

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - On Sunday, the UCF men's golf team wrapped up play at its first event of the spring, finishing eighth (879, +39) at the SunTrust Gator Invitational at the Mark Bostick Golf Course. UCF junior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) tied for seventh individually at 214 (+4).

The two-day, three-round event featured six of the top-40 ranked squads in the country. Fourth-ranked Florida took the team title at 841 (+1), followed by No. 16 Florida State (859, +19) in second.

During Sunday's final round, Henriques carded a 2-over 72.

The Knights recorded a 291 (+11) as a team Sunday. UCF finished the event six shots behind No. 29 North Florida. The Ospreys placed seventh at 873 (+33).

Henriques was one of three Knights who posted top-40 finishes. Senior Simon Ward (County Monaghan, Ireland) and sophomore Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) tied for 36th at 12-over 222. Arendell recorded a 3-over 73 on the final 18.

After a 1-over 71 final round, sophomore Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) tied for 45th at 224 (+14). Also in action for UCF was freshman Reid Martin (Mukilteo, Wash.). He tied for 50th (228, +18).

Individual medalist honors went to Jonathan Randolph of Ole Miss, who concluded play at 210 (E).

The Knights' next event is the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The three-day tournament begins Feb. 28.
