GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Playing in its first event of the spring, the UCF men's golf team had two solid rounds Saturday at the SunTrust Gator Invitational and is tied for fifth at 588 (+28) entering the final round. The 14-team tournament will conclude Sunday at the Mark Bostick Golf Course.
The Knights are tied with Duke and Ole Miss in the team standings. Host fourth-ranked Florida paces the field at 562 (+2). UCF is one stroke behind North Florida (587, +27) as the Ospreys sit in fourth.
UCF junior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) recorded an even-par 70 in the second round and is tied for fourth individually at 142 (+2). Senior Simon Ward (County Monaghan, Ireland) is tied for 26th at 147 (+7). He opened the event with a 3-over 73 in the first round.
The 14 teams played in cold, windy conditions Saturday.
Entering the final 18 holes, UCF sophomore Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) is tied for 40th at 9-over 149.
Florida's Tyson Alexander and UAB's John Darby are tied for first at 141 (+1).
