BRADENTON, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's soccer team battled during an 80-minute match with Major League Soccer's Toronto FC Thursday, and the Knights used a penalty kick from junior Yaron Bacher (Atlanta, Ga.) in the 57th minute to earn a 1-1 draw in the contest held at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. For UCF, the match was the first of six scheduled for this spring.
The game was scoreless coming out of halftime, but the Knights dented the scoreboard first in the 57th minute. Newcomer Christian Eissele (Lake Mary, Fla.) drew a foul while attacking in the box for UCF, and Bacher converted the subsequent penalty kick in the 57th minute. In the last minute of the game, Toronto FC's Dan Gargan headed in the an equalizer to earn the draw against the Knights.
UCF will return to action next Friday, Feb. 19, playing against FC Dallas of the MLS at 7 p.m. at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.
