ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After finishing the fall campaign with at 13th-place finish at the Isleworth Invitational last October, the UCF men's golf team is looking forward to starting its spring season this weekend at the SunTrust Gator Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida at the Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla. This two-day tournament begins play Saturday.

The Knights will face ranked opponents Florida (4) and Florida (9), as well as Duke, LSU, Ole Miss and Conference USA foe UAB.

The Knights' lineup consists of senior Simon Ward (County Monagahan, Ireland), junior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal), sophomores Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) and Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) and freshman Reid Martin (Mukilteo, Wash.).

At the 2009 Gator Invitational, Ward tied for first in the individual standings leading the Knights to a third-place showing at the event. Current UCF men's golf assistant coach Toby Ragland tied Ward, and earned medalist honors, while competing as an undergraduate at Florida. Both Ward and Ragland finished the 54-hole tournament with five-under 205.

UCF participated in four events during the fall campaign. Both Henriques and Schneider posted top-10 finishes at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate to open the season. Henriques was also awarded C-USA Player of the Week honors in October after his performance at the Prestige at PGA WEST where he shot 2-over par 218, tying for 14th leading the Knights to a 10th place finish.
