ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - During the non-conference portion of the season, sophomore guard A.J. Rompza (Chicago, Ill.) was the Knights' fourth-leading scorer. The Chicago native averaged 8.7 points, and rarely looked for his own shot.

Now that UCF has started Conference USA play, the point guard is now a scoring threat. Rompza totaled a career-best 19 points at Tulsa last night and is averaging a team-high 14.7 points against league foes. He is shooting 55.2 percent overall, and has made 8-of-17 (47.1 percent) of his 3-point attempts.

The fact that Rompza has connected on eight triples in only three C-USA contests is remarkable considering he made 13 in 29 games as a freshman in 2008-09.

Rompza has registered at least 10 points in four-consecutive contests.

The Knights will return to action Wednesday at Houston. The squad's next home contest is Saturday versus UTEP at 5 p.m.
