ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - (UCFAthletics.com) Amid freezing temperatures UCF junior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) finished in third at the New Year's Invitational at the St. Petersburg Country Club over the weekend. This tournament is currently in its 83rd straight year and is the oldest continually running invitational in the southeast.

This year's contest was one of the coldest on record with below freezing temperatures, and wind chill in the 20s for the final two rounds of play.

At the end of regulation, Henriques was tied for first at 2-over-290, but fell to Florida freshman Tommy Mou and North Carolina's Michael McGowan during the first round of the playoffs.

This season Henriques tied for seventh at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate. He earned Conference USA Player of the Week Honors after his performance at the Prestige at PGA WEST in mid-October.

UCF sophomore, Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) competed in this tournament and finished fourth a year ago, along with former UCF star David Johnson who tied for fifth.
