ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's golf team will head to California this weekend to participate in The Prestige at PGA WEST Intercollegiate in La Quinta. This three-day, 54-hole tournament begins play on Sunday.
The Knights are one of 16-teams competing in the event hosted by UC Davis and Stanford. The Cardinal are currently ranked sixth nationally by Golfweek. Fifth-ranked Washington, 10th-ranked USC and 20th-ranked TCU will also compete. TCU finished first in the event a year ago.
This tournament will serve as UCF's third event of the fall season. The squad last competed Sept. 21, when it finished seventh at the Adam's Cup of Newport Collegiate Invitational in Middletown, R.I.
Seniors Devin Spies (Sarasota, Fla.) and Simon Ward (County Monagahn, Ireland), junior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) and sophomores Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) and Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) are set to tee off for the Knights.
A year ago, the Knights competed at The Prestige at PGA WEST and posted a fourth-place finish. Ward tied for 11th at 220 (+4).
