Oct. 20, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After helping to lead the UCF men's soccer team to the Knights' most important victory of the year against Marshall on Sunday, junior Yaron Bacher (Atlanta, Ga.) has been named UCF's Bright House Student-Athlete of the Week.

Bacher's game-winning goal in the 58th minute of the match led the Knights to a 1-0 victory over Marshall, who was previously unbeaten in Conference USA. His solid play in the midfield was also an important factor in leading the Knights to their first shutout of conference play.

In the four conference games the Knights have played this season, Bacher has been impressive, leading the team with three goals and one assist, including game-winning goals in both of UCF's wins. The midfielder has tallied a point in each of the games, including goals in three straight C-USA contests.

With six more shots added to his total last week, Bacher now leads the team with 33. This total also ranks fourth in C-USA.

The Knights' game versus Marshall will be aired tape delayed on Tuesday at 7 p.m. on CBS College Sports and Wednesday at 8 p.m. on Bright House Sports Network.

The Knights take on their next C-USA opponent on Oct. 24 when they play against UAB in Birmingham, Ala. The match is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. UCF's next home contest will be Oct. 28 against Kentucky with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m.
