ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF lineup will have a slightly different look when the men's golf squad participates in the Adam's Cup of Newport Monday and Tuesday in Newport, R.I. Seniors Devin Spies (Sarasota, Fla.) and Simon Ward (County Monaghan, Ireland), junior Nuno Henriques (Funchal, Portugal) and sophomores Connor Arendell (Cape Coral, Fla.) and Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) have qualified for the event and will compete for the Knights at the Newport National Golf Club.
Head coach Bryce Wallor's UCF squad played three rounds earlier this week to qualify for the tournament in Rhode Island. Henriques and Schneider both earned tournament exemptions as a result of top-10 finishes last weekend at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Indiana.
Schneider actually won the three-round qualifying event, posting a 204. Henriques had the second-lowest score. Arendell qualified by having the lowest average of all qualifying rounds this season among non-exempt or qualified golfers. Ward qualified with the second-lowest lowest average of all qualifying rounds this season among non-exempt or qualified golfers.
Spies was the coaches' pick and also carded the fourth-lowest score for the three-round qualifier.
Ardendell and Ward also played for the Knights at the season-opening event in Indiana a week ago.
Two of the qualifying rounds were played at the Rio Pinar Country Club, with the other at North Shore.
