Aline Reis Named Bright House Student Athlete of the Week

Sept. 15, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - After aiding the UCF women's soccer team to two key victories against in-state opponents No. 4 Florida State and USF last week, goalkeeper Aline Reis has been named the Bright House Student-Athlete of the week.

Coming off of an injury that kept her out for two matches, Reis made a strong return, earning the nod as C-USA Defensive Player of the Week. In the shutout victory against the highly-ranked Seminoles, the keeper totaled nine saves and followed that in the subsequent game with one stop against the Bulls. For the 2009 campaign, Reis now has three shutouts and a 1.07 goal-against average.

Reis' play helped the Knights to move into the national rankings for the first time this season as Soccer America has UCF at No. 17 in the country.

UCF heads to No. 12 South Carolina on Friday, Sept. 18, for its final non-conference match of the year, set to begin at 7 p.m. The Knights come back home to open the C-USA schedule Sept. 25 vs. UAB at 7 p.m. and Sept. 27 against Memphis at 1 p.m.
